Information we process

Account information. When you create an account, Quran Chat processes your email address, authentication information and account creation information. Passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes and are not stored as plain text.

Quran Chat activity. The service may process information required to provide its features, including questions submitted to Quran Chat, conversation or question history, saved verses, saved answers, saved topics, duas, journey activity and related application preferences.

Location. If you grant location permission, Quran Chat accesses your device location to calculate prayer times, determine the Qibla direction and display location-relevant information. Location permission is optional. You may deny or revoke it through your device settings.

Subscription information. When you purchase a Quran Chat subscription through Google Play, we process information necessary to verify and maintain your subscription entitlement, such as purchase or subscription status and purchase verification data. Payment card information is handled by Google Play and is not provided to Quran Chat.

Artificial intelligence

Quran Chat uses Google Gemini through Google Cloud Vertex AI to generate responses and explanations. When you use AI-powered features, your question and Quran passages or other context required to answer it may be transmitted from our server to Google Cloud for processing.

Quran Chat is designed to ground Quran-related responses in Quranic source material. AI-generated responses may nevertheless contain errors and should not be treated as professional, medical, legal or financial advice.

Email communications

We use Resend to deliver transactional messages such as email verification, password reset and account-deletion confirmation emails.

Notifications

Quran Chat may request permission to send notifications, including reminders related to your Quran journey. Notification permission can be changed through your device settings.

How we use information

We process information only as necessary to:

• create and secure your Quran Chat account;
• provide Quran Chat features and AI-generated responses;
• provide prayer-time and Qibla functionality;
• save content and preferences you choose to keep;
• verify and manage subscription access;
• send account verification, security and account-related emails;
• maintain the security, reliability and operation of the service; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

Service providers

Quran Chat relies on service providers where necessary to operate the service. These include Google Cloud / Vertex AI for AI processing, Google Play for Android distribution, subscriptions and payments, and Resend for transactional email delivery.

These providers process information according to their own applicable privacy terms and our service arrangements with them.

Data retention and deletion

Account information and associated application data are retained while your account remains active or as necessary to provide the service and comply with applicable legal obligations.

You may permanently delete your Quran Chat account from within the app. If you no longer have access to the app, you may use our external account deletion page. Once an account deletion request has been verified and completed, the Quran Chat account and associated application data are deleted, except for information that we are legally required to retain.

Security

We use technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect user information. Authentication credentials are protected using cryptographic password hashing and access to authenticated application services requires authorization.

Children

Quran Chat is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe that a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights concerning your personal data, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection. You may contact us regarding a privacy request using the address below.
